When I was a freshman in college, like many other students, I didn’t know what I wanted to pursue as a major. All I knew was that I had to fill up my schedule with a variety of courses from a huge catalog to choose from!

To a degree, I was very excited with the amount of choice and freedom I was given and it gave me a sense of liberation and a feeling of being an adult. After all, at what other point in life does a young man or woman begin to feel the power of their choice and how it can affect the future? Knowing that I have always had a knack for taking pictures, I decided to take my first college level photography course. It was at this time that I was introduced to a new world of technology, creativity, techniques, beauty, and a way of sharing the world through my very own viewfinder.

On my first day of class I was handed a list. I was instructed to gather up the items on this list as a requirement to pass the photography course that I had chosen to take. A part of this list included some camera equipment and other equipment that I would need in order to create my own masterpieces. After some research, I headed over to the local camera store to purchase a DSLR camera so that I could fulfill my course requirements. I rushed home and anxiously took my new camera out of it’s meticulous packaging only to find myself getting dizzy from all the buttons, settings, and controls that could be played around with only to take a picture. I could not believe how little documentation came with such a sophisticated camera and how complicated it seemed to use this wonderful gadget made only to take still images.

When I returned to class the following week, I quickly realized that there was going to be a long learning curve before I can take a decent picture that I can present in class. My first assignment was due in a week and I hadn’t even known the first thing about how to operate my new camera. "What an overwhelming experience" I thought.

A few weeks later, and after many long nights of reading books and doing research, I had finally cracked the code in figuring out how to operate my camera in manual. In no time at all I was receiving high remarks on my course work and was even asked to shoot at a wedding. It was an exciting time in my life. I just hope that you can experience the excitement without the overwhelm and confusion I did when I first started out. That’s why I write The Definitive Photography for Beginners Guide.

In this book I give you all the lessons and information I have learned and provide it for you in an easy to read, comprehensive guide, with descriptive pictures and illustrations that you need so you can operate your camera. This applies to both point and shoot cameras and cell phone cameras as well as mirror-less, SLR and DSLR cameras. After reading this book you’ll be able to shoot studio quality shots from any camera. Use it to create beautiful content for you social media accounts, website, and even make you own artwork to share at home with friends and family. This book is for the hobbyist who wants to get a proper technique for shooting pictures or for the person who has just unboxed their first new camera and wants to know how to get the most out of their investment.
